The homeowners wanted a backyard that offered more than an open lawn and aging deck. The goal was to create shade, comfortable gathering areas, and a stronger connection between the home and the surrounding landscape.
JM Outdoor Living developed a coordinated plan centered around a cedar pergola, expanded Belgard paver patio, and dedicated fire-pit lounge. The pergola establishes the primary outdoor room, while stone columns and seating walls give the structure permanence and connect it visually to the hardscape.
The former wood deck was replaced with a low-maintenance paver surface that expands the usable living area and provides a durable foundation for everyday family use and entertaining.
Rather than creating one large patio, the backyard was organized into a series of connected destinations.
The pergola provides shade and structure near the home, while the circular fire-pit lounge creates a separate gathering space deeper in the yard. Stepping stones and gravel connect the areas, and new planting beds soften the hardscape and help the finished project feel established within the existing landscape.
The result is a backyard that feels relaxed and intentional — designed around how the family actually spends time outdoors.
